Senoia resident Rosie Burns enjoys an ear of roasted corn at the town's Memorial Day celebration, sponsored by the Senoia Downtown Development Authority.

Councilman Jeff Burgess said progress is being made on the project. A student at the Coweta County School System's Central Educational Center is putting the site together with photographs donated by an area resident and information from several sources.

Events are scheduled on Sunday in Moreland and on Monday in Newnan and Senoia. Continuing a long tradition, the Moreland Community Historical Society will hold a reception for all veterans at the Moreland Mill on Sunday at 2 p.m. Josh Evans, MCHS president, said there will be a special focus on veterans from the Vietnam War era this year, although ... Jeff Carroll, Post Commander of Newnan VFW Post 2667, has announced the theme for the 2012 Memorial Day ceremonies to be held at Veterans Memorial Plaza on Jackson Street in Newnan at 11 a.m. Monday.

New Leaf Community Garden will have a workday on Saturday at the group's first garden spot on Salbide Avenue.
