Strawberry Festival set to open on Wednesday
The "exciting family tradition" that is the West Virginia Strawberry Festival officially kicks off at noon Wednesday with the lighting of the Strawberry Flame on the Upshur County Courthouse Plaza, the highlight of the opening ceremonies at noon.
Sunday proved to be a very special night for the Thorne family and friends after the 2012 Strawberry Festival Queen, Sarah Thorne, received a marriage proposal on-stage just before her sister, Eva Leigh-Ann Thorne, was named 2013 Strawberry Festival Teen Queen.
The Lady Yellow Jackets took the opening game 15-0 and completed the sweep with a 13-0 decision in the nightcap.
