Eastbound traffic on U.S. 460 near Montvale could face detours for weeks following a tanker truck accident Monday evening that killed a Lynchburg man.

Virginia State Police say a truck driver has died after his tanker truck overturned and leaked diesel fuel onto U.S. Route 460 in Bedford County.

According to Bedford County Fire & Rescue Chief Jack Jones, a tanker carrying as much as 9,000 gallons of diesel overturned tonight on West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike.

A man crashed into a deer while riding on his motorcycle on Route 460 this afternoon , near Montvale Elementary School.
