I live here in the US a legal immigrant for 24 years and paying taxes since 18 years old. I'm ready to become a Citizen by choice.But could not afford the fees. I do not understand why a tax payers legal immigrant have to pay hefty to received citizenship when so many Citizens of this country who denounce their citizenship, others don't give a crap about this country, specially when they don't agreed about this country's government that they voted.I need not only to learn the history how this country was form & what it stood for, to better understand the meaning of y Citizenship.All this required time & effort.I'm not white nor black but it is the only home I know.I love everyone regardless of what they think about me.I love this country whether I agreed with our government decision on many things that may & or may not effect my life, I love this country even though regardless of my status I will always be a second class Citizen.I love this country When a white men feel superior than any race.I love this country when a black men think that they are the only one who where victimize by circumstances. I love this country when gang bangers tregardlhat migrated from other countries want to attain control of their territories. I love this country not only good things she provided to me but I also love this country when this country treat me wrong.It is like marriage, Do we only love someone when she/he loving you back? or do you only love your country when he treated you right? I love this country regardless how this country love me. Just like what President Kennedy said,"Ask not what your country can do for you but what can do for you country". That is my Citizenship & that is not something you can learn over night. Just like you have to put your foot on every soldier who fought & died for tis country whether you agree or not for price to preserve freedom.I watch & listen many foreign came to this country saying ohh I love this country because it the land of the free and opportunity.Some other said there are a whole aisle of dog & cat food at the grocery store.
To me, this is all simply BS.
What is citizenship? To me is equally of life under the law.
I paid taxes all my life & as a legal immigrant I deserve to become citizen of this country not having to pay a single pennies to attain citizenship. Instead of giving amnesty to many illegal Aliens who never paid taxes.
