MONTE VISTA, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management is giving the public a chance to comment on a preliminary environmental assessment of geothermal energy leasing in the San Luis Valley.

Each year from late February through the end of March or early April, nearly 20,000 cranes stop in the San Luis Valley and begin their ritual mating dance.
