Is it really necessary for us to have more hotels? This town is too small

hotels have to be RENTED for taxes to be good for the city... I agree, there are too many big hotels here - BECAUSE the "powers that be" in Monahans do not encourage or allow any tourist type stuff to take place here. They built it for the overflow of oil field workers. But with the oil field in a huge slump, the demand for housing is gone. Hell the apartment complexes in town have gone from having waiting lists for the last 3-4 years to having half the units empty since March. It is a shame that the Economic Development Group of Monahans does NOTHING to attract BIG BUSINESS to Monahans. We pay good tax money to have their services and the BEST they have done is Best Made Designs?? And the economic development board really can't take credit for that business locating here since one of the co-owners grew up here, lived here or near here most of his life. People need to speak up and demand the economic development board DO THEIR JOB!!! Bring in BUSINESS that DOES NOT depend on the ever fluctuating OIL and GAS INDUSTRY. Hell, I think it is a disgrace that after all these years, WE STILL HAVE ONLY ONE GROCERY STORE!!!(And, NO, Mitchell's does not count - It doesn't stock enough of anything to be considered an actual "grocery" store in my opinion.)
And to CCC... KIDS in this town HAVE things to do... BUT the catch is PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT!!! Kids whose parents are lazy and don't want to get involved have nothing to do. Soccer, T-ball/softball/baseball, 4-H, tons of extracurricular activities for Jr. High and High School kids, summer sports workshops, KIDZ Zone, CHURCH activities (I know for a fact Southside Baptist has ALWAYS got things going on for kids of ALL ages)... and that is JUST to name just a few that I have volunteered for. If parents would get involved - their kids would never lack for something to do.

Did it ever occur to any of you that something big is on it's way to our area that might make these hotels necessary. You should concider the possibility that you may not know everything that is happening around here at all times.

No worry my friends nothing is coming to this town that is not owned or controlled by the click that has always controlled everything. If we the people would ever wake up and vote all these people out of office and elect people who care to grow this town we could make it work. We have to get the same old people out or we will keep getting the same old thing NOTHING. We have I-20 RIGHT HERE BUT WE DON'T DO ANYTHING TO GROW. TAKE A LOOK AT FT. STOCKTON THEY WOKE UP AND LOOK AT THEM.
