This family still needs our prayer. Im sure they would give all of the money back for their child. Hard to put a price on a child. They are Priceless.

No ammount of money could ever replace a child. I am just so sorry that poor baby has to grow up knowing that his daddy was killed by the police. We are supposed to teach our kids to trust the cops, but I am very sure few people will teach that lesson any more.

You are correct. There is no amount of money that can replace your child. What this family has had to endure has been terrible. I hope that this judgement does not stop them and what they are standing for. The police officers involved need to be fired, they were in the wrong. Please don't take the money and run keep fighting for what the did to Stanley.

I am sure this family will not give up until everything is as it should be. Those officers need to face severe consequences for what they did. They tased him for an extreme amount of time, then not one single cop ever attempted to do cpr or allow anybody else to do cpr on him. At the very least they are guilty of negligable homicide. I wish Stanley's family the very best and they are still in my prayers.

But I'm sure with getting 2.4 so quickly it should make it easier...

They should have to pay and yes if one of my boys was murdered by a cop i would ask for more ! This family set an example and sends a message that just because you have a badge , doesn't give rights to murder under the cover of law !

According to the news release the city did not admit any fault on their part. So the way I take it, is since the family took the money they are also agreeing the city did not do anything wrong???

Fussellman(sp) has asked for another special prosecutor to look into this case. I really hope the next one actually looks at the case and what actually happened. Although through the settlement they don't admit any guilt, there can still be criminal charges filed. I guess then they will have to admit to what they did.

This is much bigger than your local prosecutor.

But like anything else in Moberly, you just have to wait for it to happen to believe it....its not over by a long shot. Now comes the criminal charges....and they are coming...it might take a bit....but just hang in there, after all it took almost a year to get to this point - Federal system is slow.

I look at it this way.

Moberly just paid 2.4 million dollars to stop us from finding what was really going on there.

Must be some nasty happenings for the insurance company to be so willing to pay policy limits so soon. Think about it. The only reason to pay out this much money, this soon, is to prevent further damage from happening. This was simple give them everything we have to give and get out now, cut and run.

I am very proud of the Harlans. They didnt just settle for the money no matter how bad the City wanted out. They insisted on more terms in the settlement. I think they made us all safer. From what I read in the Court order, in addition to the money Harlans insisted on:

1.A moratorium on Tasers in Moberly until there is a policy on how they use them.

I feel a little safer.

2.They insisted on first aid training for all Moberly Police officers.

Sound like they didnt want other Moberly parents to watch the cops do nothing for 15 minutes as a child dies in front of them.

Im pretty happy about that.

3. They required that the defibrillator thing is in the cars--not in the closet at the station--and that the cops are trained to use them.

Not sure if I want them to have access to stuff they can electrocute me with or not?

4. They made it so the "investigators" who do the corrupt cop investigations must go to investigator school and learn how to do it.

I think this is very informative about why the money was so much.

Anyway, we all owe that family alot. They could have taken all that money and done nothing else but they fought for all these things, and a judge has ordered the City to do them.

They ONLY took the money after making the city do all this stuff, in addition to the money. Thats pretty darn honorable. I think these are good people who the City trashed in order to cover up for their own bad apples.

I think the Harlans looked out for their community. It is very sad that this happen to such decent people.

Yes, this family did look out for our community. Now don't stop there-get thoses officers out of the department and out of public service. Take that money and use it to continue the fight agaist the wrong doing that took Stanley's life. As a mother I know I would not stop until those officers where out of here and I would make sure where ever they went they would never forget what they did. I know of a person that was driving a car and tried to beat a train, ended up getting hit and killing the passenger. As a part of his sentence he was to maintain her grave as well as place flowers on her grave every year on memorial day for his entire life. He has been doing this for 35 years now and say's to this day what happened that night never leaves his mind. And that is what needs to happen with these officers they need a reminder of what they did. They took a young man's life.
