New budget woes may shut down rural courthouses
Maine's chief justice said Thursday that she is hopeful the judicial branch can find ways to weather the next round of deep budget cuts without closing courthouses in rural areas of the state.
State probes fourth arson in Medway
State investigators are probing whether an arson that destroyed an abandoned house on Pattagumpus Road early Thursday is connected to at least three other fires in town that they say also were set intentionally.
Firefighters were called Sunday night to two adjacent fires, one of which gutted an abandoned home, and a state investigator said Monday they are being investigated.
