That there basset has a cactus on its back. The judges, sipping Bud Lights in their big leather chairs, have decided to allow it, seeing as it fits the Wild West tumbleweed theme of this year's Slobberfest, the gathering of basset hounds and their so-called masters.

A strong line of thunderstorms downed trees and knocked out power in some parts of Erie County this afternoon.

One person was killed in a crash this morning near Mill Village. An Erie County emergency dispatcher said the fatal accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Route 19 in LeBoeuf Township.

One man was killed and another injured when they were ejected from a pickup truck that rolled over at least twice early today.
