City Restripes Parking Stalls on Miller Avenue to Test Back-in Parking

Looking to make Miller Avenue safer for everyone who uses it, the City of Mill Valley is set to test back-in angled parking along one stretch of the roadway, starting this week. The restriping is one of a number of interim improvements the City is making in advance of its comprehensive Miller Avenue Streetscape Project overhaul of the roadway beginning in 2015.

Dining review: Frantoio evokes tastes, ambiance of Tuscany

Having a working olive press inside a restaurant is an unusual way to draw customers but given that the idea was the brainchild of Frantoio owner Christine Zecca, who produced olive oil from a grove of over 12,000 trees on her family's property in Chianti, it all makes sense. In Tuscany, dining among olive trees and grape vines while drinking the wine and using the oil in the food is all part of the romance.

Mill Valley, county seek safety solutions for multiuse path

In the wake of a bicycle-pedestrian collision on Mill Valley's multiuse path that left a 9-year-old boy with severe head and internal injuries earlier this month, city and county officials continue to work on preventing a repeat of the incident.

Changes to the City of Mill Valley Building Division Hours of Operation

In an effort to better serve the Mill Valley community, the Building Division has recently made a number of changes to building inspection, development review and construction oversight processes. With the intention to better streamline these processes, the Building Division has made changes to its hours of operation and services, which will go into effect Monday, September 29, 2014.

Dick Spotswood: Bike path accident leads to calls for bikes to slow down

Outrage continues over the incident on the Mill Valley-Sausalito multi-use path in which two fourth-graders were struck and injured by a cyclist. So far, more than 1,350 citizens have signed an online petition demanding that the path's 15 mph limit be strictly enforced.

Redwood Trust is considering several structural changes to its private-label securitizations in an effort to make them more attractive to investors. Hundreds Turn Out for "Robin's Ride" to Honor Late Local Legend

One month after the passing of Robin Williams , the legendary comedian and actor and longtime Mill Valley fixture, hundreds of cyclists gathered at Blackie's Pasture on Sunday morning to begin "Robin's Ride," a jaunt around the famed Paradise Loop ride that Williams loved to do himself for years. The event was organized by the Marin County Bicycle Coalition and featured brief speeches by Coalition Director Jim Elias and famed American cyclist and commentator Bob Roll.

Ross lawyer, awaiting drug trial, hit with new charges

A Ross lawyer awaiting trial on drug and counterfeiting charges was arraigned on new charges of using a stolen credit card at a Greenbrae gas station. Deron Adam Kartoon, 47, received the additional charges based on a police investigation in Colma, said prosecutor Sean Kensinger.

Nominations: Mill Valley author Katy Butler's book "Knocking on Heaven's Door: The Path to a Better Way of Death," was named a finalist for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for nonfiction, awarded to books of social significance and that promote understanding and peace between cultures. Graduation: Sarah Helene Green of Greenbrae graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, with a bachelor of fine arts degree in illustration.
