1 That young deputy's death did not have to happen. The police instigated a car chase over about $30.00 worth of gas. If not for the actions of police, Deputy Pursifull would still be alive, and the two young men who drove away without paying for gas would still have a future. Also, during the high speed chase down Highway 119, there were untold numbers of lives placed at risk along the way. Because of this same outcome of needless injuries and deaths, other states and municipalities have guidelines to follow before a chase is begun. It just seems like common sense to not risk so very much for so very little. |

2 This whole situation was unfortunate and POINTLESS. Too often, these officers, in their attempt at heroism, actually endanger more lives than they protect. |

1 Attempt at heroism...hmmmm. they were trained to do it that way...nothing heroic about it...its a job they trained to do. Lets see lets not chase criminals for a year and see what happens. |

Yes, they were trained, and look what happened! Sad. A poor attempt at heroism, as I said.

I think that the accident was just that an accident,I will pray for both families,but there is no reason for this conversation simply because we can not change things ,we can not bring people back. Things happen for a reason ,and maybe that reason is to let people know you are not supposed to try to out run the law and when you do you are indangering others lives if it were not for that deputy on that day you never know a car for of kids'a could have been killed ,we will never know " Like I said thing's happen for a reason"

People want someone to blame, blame the true person, the guy in prison. But they want to make money and KSP has deep pockets.

Let's say Pamela that these two junvenille thugs had you in the trunk and were speeding away after stealing $30.00 worth of gas. Would you prefer the police not chase them and you could end up being raped or murdered? Hmmm? Also, if you let juvenile thugs get away with stealing $30.00 worth of gas and not chase them.....chances are they will do it again, because they know the police aren't going to chase them for $30.00 worth of gas. The delinquents broke the law....broke the law again by trying to out run the police...but it most distrubing the kid that was driving admitted to intentionally hit officer Pursifull's cruiser. I have a feeling that you, Pamela, would not want to be out on the streets when this little prick decided he needed to steal some gas the next time.
Huh? I dunno about you but I feel safer knowing that the little prick is in jail where he cannot hurt or kill someone for 25 years. But my one wish for this little boy who thought it would be fun to run into a cop cruiser is that he gets his just rewards! May he have to bend over everyday and hold his ankles while the other Bubbas in jail give him all the love and attention he so rightly deserves!! |

1 No one will change my thoughts on this case with "what if, what if" scenarios. All the police knew FOR CERTAIN when they started the chase was that gasoline was stolen, which was a misdemeanor. They had no reason to suspect I was in the trunk. They had no reason to suspect anything more sinister than the misdemeanor. The whole unfortunate outcome was a direct result of the decision to pursue them. It was the wrong decision. As the other poster mentioned, I pray for all parties involved. I take no delight in seeing the young men go to prison. Since the crimes were committed, they should be punished. My point was...it just shouldn't have happened at all. |

Thank you, once again, for your kind words. I knew when I posted that opinion there was a very small possibility others might disagree. But,(looking in mirror) I'm good enough, I'm......... |

I never thought I'd be'ing saying this, and I'm not saying justice wasn't served but, I came in contact with this boy for a few hours and I know someone else who didn't also. We both talked and at the same time agreed this boy would have gotten a hung jury at worst if he had took the stand. You can say what ever you want but if you talk to this boy, he is pitiful. The most polite and humble person I have ever incountered. So never say never. Also neither of us meet him in jail, and one is a fellow officer.
I know I will get bashed for this comment but, I couldn't hold it in. That jury could have went in ready to hang him, but if his lawyer had a brain he would have put him on the stand. Half the jury would have changed their mind. |

1 I was at the hospital the night that the "little darling" came in the ER, he was told that he had killed Sean and King, he shrugged his shoulders and said "Oh well" I wonder if the juriors had know that if it would have been a hung jury. That night he chose his own fate buy stealing gas and running from the law, and from the video that everyone saw you could see that he NEVER hit his brakes when he hit Sean and King, he also bragged in jail about being a cop killer, I am sure that justice will be served in prision when Bubba decides to make him his girlfriend and the guards turn their heads. RIP Sean and King. |

Humble and polite? Are you kidding me! They were thieves at best if they were so humble and polite they wouldn't have been running from the KENTUCKY STATE POLICE in the first place. These boys killed someone, if it hadn't been Shawn it could have been anyone of us who happened to come into their path that night. Shawn's death was a tragedy, whether or not he was an officer or an innocent bystander he died and now 3 children will grow up without a father, so I think both boys need to be punished because if they hadn't stole the gas regardless of how much it was it never would have happened. They made bad choices and destroyed the lives of Shawn's family, things will never be the same for his daughters and his son will never know him so they should definitly pay for what they did. |

you know even Jeffery Domier was "poliert and humble"

And if the perp is already driving at high speed?
|
||||
Doesn't matter, Speed cameras get your tag number as you speed by. There are some speed cameras that get your face too. The cop cars have cameras in them that can photo your tag. |
