A sudden wave that swept several people off the beach on Sunday, was likely an edge wave, or seiche.

A U.S. Coast Guard boatcrew from Station Fairport, Ohio, rescued a Mentor-On-The-Lake, Ohio, man and his daughter after the vessel they were aboard caught fire and began taking on water in Lake Erie near Eastlake, Ohio, Tuesday evening.

The man called for help using his marine radio at about 6:08 p.m. Tuesday while him and his daughter were traveling to Mentor, the Coast Guard said.

After an extensive search, the city recently named Andrew Rose to its new code enforcement supervisor position at an annual salary of $57,000.
