A North Alabama father is running across Alabama to bring awareness to a rare disease that is cutting his son's life short.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris is continuing his efforts to meet with communities across the county and address their concerns throughought the summer, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.

The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals affirmed a 2007 DeKalb County circuit court opinion in a case involving a group of Mentone residents and poultry farms.

The annual search for bargains and rare items starts today throughout DeKalb County.

Several DeKalb County police departments, including Powell, Rainsville, Mentone and Fort Payne, will take part in a Click It or Ticket campaign that will start Monday and run through May 31.

A home on the brow in Mentone was destroyed by fire early Friday morning. Mentone Police Chief Lamar Bray said he noticed the fire about 6:30 a.m. on his way to conduct school traffic and called the Mentone Fire Department.
