Tornado warning issued for Effingham and Chatham
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for southeastern Effingham and northwestern Chatham County until 4:45 p.m. The weather service reports Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 7 miles south of Meldrim, or about 8 miles northwest of Richmond Hill, moving northeast at 25 mph.
Effingham County Board of Commissioners will meet at 3 p.m. today at 601 N. Laurel St., Springfield.
