The Bureau of Land Management's Northwest Colorado District is hosting a public workshop June 12 in Steamboat Springs designed to gather social and economic information that will be used in its district-wide Greater Sage-grouse planning effort.

Around the state, river "basin roundtables" have been working since 2005 to assess current and future water needs for cities, industry, agriculture, recreation and the environment.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has released a preliminary environmental assessment for two proposed oil shale research development and demonstration leases in Rio Blanco County, about 35 miles southwest of Meeker.
