"after reality TV star Captain Phil Harris had pledged to donate money to help him and his family."

You write that as if it just happened. You mean to say, "after the Times-Standard reported on the story months too late."

And shame on Ray's Food Place. Why did this family have to appeal to the public for health care?

Oh, yeah, I forgot... shame on Tea Baggers who hate the human race.

There's nothing shallow about wishing the man had been given his right to proper medical care free from a financial burden being placed on his family.

Whose side are you on? You're a tea bagger in disguise.

You forgot the part where Obamacare wouldn't have helped the guy. The Dems could pass it at anytime, but won't. You'd rather focus on people speaking out against the chosen one.

Keep on fighting against dissent.

You'd have made an excellent brownshirt in the day.

Actually, single-payer would have helped him immediately. You've been listening to too many lies about Canada. Get cancer? Treatments begin the same week.

Why are you defending a corrupt system?

My condolences to his family and friends. It's so hard when you lose someone who has fought so hard to beat cancer and lost. Please try and find comfort in that he is no longer in pain and can finally rest in peace.

This is the system that tea baggers support, profits over people, a culture of death.

Mike was an awesome guy and good man. I had the oppurtunity to work for him and I was able to take alot of experience from his leadership. I had not seen him in a few years but my heart still goes out to his family, RIP Mike you will be missed.

Hopefully people don't forget that even though his physical life has ended, that his spirit is still alive within his friends and family. The family probably still has bills to pay, so this is probably especially a difficult time for them. Please continue to support the coffee sales in his honor.

In Garberville and Redway, Ray's charges forty percent more for their groceries than does Winco in Eureka. Even their sale items are priced above Winco's regular prices. It is a big part of the reason Garberville is known as Gougerville. I wish these fat thieves would get out of here. In southern Humboldt, it is a real good lesson about what capitalist monopolies do. This man passed away, and you all complain of health care....This faimly is left with no dad, no son, no husband. I really wish you would not complain. He was a man working hard to support his family. We knew him and loved him and if you didn't then your comment need's not be left!

Umm,
your agenda is inappropriate to be exploited here.
Pull your pants up and allow those that knew this man to express their thoughts without your political BS.
This is not the area for it. Why must you be such a moron and show your ignorance as those that wish to fondly remember this man are forced to deal with your childish rants?

That's the problem with these liberals...

In the words of Rahm... don't let a good crisis go unexploited.

So the reality guy went out of his way to donate a WHOLE dollar for every bag of his coffee sold?

You've got to be kidding me. What a pathetic opportunist.

There certainly a lot of brain cancer cases originating from MeKinleyville residents. He's the third that I've heard/known of in the past 10 years with only one recovering.

Most of you have missed the point. Mike gave his all to his family in healthy times and when he was at his lowest he still hung in there for his family. He lost the fight and leaves a wife, children, parents and a sister without their Mike. Show some respect and stop the ridiculous posts. Prayers are with his family

It will be just what you need if you've been waiting for the right time to raise a tricky topic with you-know-who, and it will also come in handy if you're caught up in a potentially sensitive conversation with someone and you want to extricate yourself as smoothly as possible.
