New mayor in Matthews; Liquor vote passes in Union County

Republican Jim Taylor is the new mayor of Matthews. He defeated Jack Davis. Lee Myers, who has held the office for the last 18 years, didn't run for re-election. In Huntersville , Jill Swain beat back a challenge from Brian Sisson to win re-election as mayor.
