Eighteen small Kansas towns will split $6.9 million in federal money to extend water and sewer service, the state Commerce Department announced Tuesday.

Kansas is receiving $396,000 in federal grants to improve and promote scenic highway routes.

The Kansas Scenic Byways program will receive a total of $396,000 in grants from the Federal Highway Administration .

When Charles W. Rogler set foot in Chase County in 1859, he left a permanent legacy - A a legacy that will be celebrated Saturday at the original site of the Rogler homestead, off of Highway 177 one mile north of Matfield Green.

Sharon Campbell, mezzo-soprano, will perform in recital with pianist Yaokun Yang at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Heath Recital Hall at Beach Music Hall on the ESU campus.

Tim Hickok, a Chase County rancher, will discuss prairie flora and fauna and the pursuit of prairie chickens with trained raptors at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Bluffs, a mile north of Matfield Green.
