Hot dogs! - The Weenie Dog Races, featuring races, demonstrations and vendors, will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, on Poyntz Avenue in Manhattan.

Vearl was born March 25, 1918, in Linn County to Percy Cox and Ethel Poole Cox. He was the fourth of six children.

The 37th annual Mother's Day Flea Market and Barbeque will be Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13, in the Marysville City Park, 10th and Spring streets in Marysville.

A car show is planned for the end of September to raise money for breast cancer research.

Feather feats - "Wings of Love," an exotic bird show, will start at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, in the Marysville High School Auditorium, 211 S. 10th St.
