The plaintiff came from a devout and active Roman Catholic family, and "therefore developed great admiration, trust, reverence and respect for the Roman Catholic Church and its agents," the suit said. sure he did.....can we corroborate his story now 40 years later?

The alleged victim waited almost 40 years, he couldn't have waited 2 more weeks? What about the 1,300-some current students, many of whose parents weren't even born in 1970, who are trying to concentrate on academics in the final few weeks of the school year? A big showboat press conference on the school steps during school hours? I'd be surprised if there is even one teacher still at Cretin-Derham who was at the old Cretin in 1970. Mr. Schwiderski, I am sure your intentions are honorable, but try to keep in mind the current innocents while representing those of the distant past. If you could not have waited two weeks, you could have at least waited until after the school day.

I don't feel like working anymore. Let's judge this guy before we try to shake down the Catholic Church....uh...or have the courts pass judgment. Then let's go after the public/state schools where the real money and immorality are happening!

The plaintiff came from a devout and active Roman Catholic family I know it's intended to impress, but to suggest that their is an association between being religious and inherently good is failing to impress anyone, when you consider the factors that make this a story!

There's another brother who taught at Cretin that was also at Dunrovin at the same time you may want to check on.

Who cares that it happened 40 years ago? The "advocate groups" and lawyers only see a big paycheck for themselves because someone just finally realized he was diddled by a priest in the 60s...that's good enough reason to waste the court's time. I'm sure the parents who pay the bills at Cretin won't mind a little increase in their tuition next year to cover the cost for their lawyers either...

Bob Schwiderski, Minnesota Director Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests skibrs@mchsi.com Was this really written by you, Bob? After so many years working the Clergy Sex Abuse ATM, you can't correctly spell "rapist"? By the way, the article didn't mention "rape". Are you working up public sentiment for this case with unofficial accusations on the side? Whether the allegations are true or not, this pattern of showboating and not-so-subtle solicition for additional victims has made many of us question motivations, not to mention the bee-line these cases always make to the deepest pockets, not to the most culpable.

Are you sure they're all current innocents? That's the whole point. Maybe if there were support networks and options in place 40 years ago the accusor wouldn't have waited so long.

Is the "brother" still alive. The article makes no mention. It will be pretty hard for a dead man to defend himself (though death is defense enough). If the alleged offender is dead, how does one go about proving that he committed a crime for which there can be no evidence 40 years later. Even identifying body marks have gone to dust by now. After forty years, I can still see why the man would still be frothing, but I think it's time that he just sucks it up and goes about his life.

I did get a call from Brother Raymond out of the blue asking me to go up there. When I got there he and another Brother were in a trailer home in the middle of Dunrovin. I got the hell out out of there.

Why don't we know the woman's name from last weeks' CDH sex-issue but a black man from CDH is plastered all over the paper? Come on, Pioneer Press - you're better than that.
