Who is Specialist Robert K. Charlton, age 22, of Malden? This is very sad, but unfortunately bound to have happened eventually. We have very many young people who are and have served our country in combat roles.

I heartfelt feelings go out to this young man's friends and family.

He is a young man from our area that fought and died for our freedom. I don't know him or his family and it doesn't matter if anyone knows who he is he is one of our heros..God bless his family.

How rude of you to state your comment like that. He is one of our heros from this area. God bless his entire family.
You should learn some manners or shut your mouth.

Surely you are not THAT clueless. What you said was cold and uncalled for. You said "Bound to Happen". How rude.
Show some respect.

If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all.

Service men and women go into combat areas , "Bound to Happen",. Soldiers die , combat & noncombat related every day . Nothing Bad said what so ever about this YOUNG MAN . Sorry for the loss , know it was devastating to family . This person was only asking for info as to who the family was , may have had some knowledge of who if info was obtained . This is not the First nor will it be the LAST young Man or WOMAN lost from here. Good that the Gov. showed the Respect , LONG OVER DUE FOR PAST FALLEN HEROS. KOREA , VEIT NAM , 1st IRAQUI war also had Dunklin Co. soldiers killed.

Flying Flags at half Staff means NOTHING

The USA is a sick nation always at war , so we might as well keep our flags at half staff forever.

When our soldiers stand up and bring our politicians to war with them ...then they deserve RESPECT

You certainly have no problem utilizing your freedom of speech that these soldiers are protecting. America has liberated so many countries from tyranny. Perhaps you should move.

I knew Robbie for years. You ask about him. Well, if you have a little boy, probably not alot different from yours. If you have a teenage son, probably not a lot different from yours. Young man, not much different than yours. He reminded me of mine. He was not wild, did not run the streets, always used good manners, so intelligent that he wasn't thrilled on hearing adults opinions while young, but lived them when he got older. Forever young, forever missed, forever a great American Hero. All Americans can be proud of this great man.

I was the one who made the original comment. I am sorry that anyone took offense to it. I meant no disrespect to Specialist Charlton or his friends or family.

As 'Said Nothing Rude" stated, all I meant was that serving in the military is very dangerous, and we have very many of our brave young people in harm's way. It was bound to happen to us locally, as soldiers die in combat.

My fullest respect goes to Specialist Charlton, his family and friends.

While I agree with your main point, that innocent people have died, you are completely wrong to disrespect the soldiers. They are doing the job they are trained to do, as best they can.

The problem with innocent people dying, lies far up the chain of command than the soldiers. Ultimately, we are responsible, because we elected those who sent our troops into combat.

This soldier died in Afghanistan. If the previous administration had not been so gung-ho about Saddam Hussein, we would have finished our job with the Taliban and Al Quada and our troops would be home now, and our soldiers and innocent civilians would not be dying daily.
