The police chief in Mahomet says he's not commenting on the particular circumstances of this week's apparently accidental shooting death of an Urbana toddler by a teen-age relative.

According to a state police report, Tyler R. Barger, 27, of Mahomet was driving a 2003 Chrysler Concorde east on U.S. 150 about a half-mile west of Piatt County Road 900 E at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday when the vehicle left the road to the south, swerved back across the road, struck a guardrail and landed in a ditch on the north side of the road.

A Mahomet man accused of sexually molesting young girls in his home is being held in the Champaign County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
