You people who are complaining about the Sweat Lodges and drumming Do YOU need to be reminded that YOU Are LIVING ON THE WHITE EARTH RESERVATION AND WE HAVE THE RIGHT! GET THAT! THE RIGHT TO PRATICE our WAYS OF LIFE. We ARE HERE WE HAVE NOT BEN KILLED OFF. DO you see now the Ojibwe are a strong people and we will continue to keep our culture strong and live the way the great sprit has intended. Move then but we are not going to give up our way of life for we have given so much already. I think It's time to take back and live a good life in harmony with the earth. So you suffer frm the drumming and singing well that's nothing comparesd to what our grandparents and great grandparents had to survie though. Walk in our shoe's and then tell us! You live though infested blankets, starvation, being relocated, and being placed in mission schools and then tell us how YOU SUFFER!

Oh and when they try to take your laungage and froce you to speak something else. then maybe we will listen. MAHNOMEN is on the WHITE EARTH RESERVATION. POW-WOW TIME!!!!I Love this time of they year.

Sounds like the culture is well received yet. I assume in the old days they were just as enthusiastic as present day Anishinabe people are during the pow wows. In the old days the Anishinabek lived in small groups of families for much of the year, then when summer came they congregated in large groups to celebrate their ancient civilized customs. There is a message in the pow wows. The pow wows were intended to keep the civilized customs of the Anishinabe people passed on to the next generation. Of course, i am referring to music, mthyology, and writings, as well as those relating to the totemic system and medicinal. Though most of the Anishinabe people of the old days, considered the pow wows to be a time of celebrating, leaders and mide priests used the special occasion to pass on to the next generation, a truly great history of a truly great nation. Thus, the reason pow wows were created. Is that ancient tradition still occurring at the present time? I would guess yes. Most may not know it, but it is probably being done secretly.
