Co-Op Lacks Quorum
“We needed 287 registered members to conduct business, but we only had 254 present”
The Socorro Electric Cooperative held its annual membership meeting Saturday, but there were not enough members registered to comprise a quorum, so the business part of the meeting could not be held.
Members and their families from around the two county area enjoyed a lunch of hotdogs, chips and cookies before the meeting got underway.
According to the co-op's Administrative Assistant, Eileen Latasa, the co-op's bylaws state that 3 percent of the membership was needed to fulfill a quorum at the annual meeting. Read more
