this just one of many in your face corrupt gigs in the last 8 years, and not limited to state, if you look well you can probably find the county and city govt. with no penalties or citizen condemnation, this type of games will continue, "land of enchantment" is embarrassing, ad we should be the movie capital, we furnish corruption schemes every day. when will it ever stop??????????

When the revolving doors of the confessional booths are included you see why this mess continues. Penitence surely means divvying up the pie for forgiveness.
Corruption starts at the top.

Those who steal tax payers money should be given a fair and speedy trial and then hanged publicly.

...typical, typical. And what will be even more typical is that there will be no consequences. Get the homeboys and girls out of politics in NM. That's the only way things will get cleaned up.

Patricis Madrid is now making robo phone calls for ex-mayor Martin Chavez--how much does she and Gutierrez get paid? She refuses to answer how much Gutierrez received from the state when she was attorney general (one of the worst in state history). Come clean Patsy, it will help your conscience.

When you are in you're in, when you are out, you are just another poor, underpaid working New Mexican. NMDP, rotten through and through.

This is nothing more than business as usual in New Mexico. Why even bother with newspaper stories that pretend like this is a "scandal." Nothing will happen and this under-the-table use of New Mexican tax dollars will continue unabated. Then we can all sit around and feel sorry for ourselves because we remain on the bottom of the socio-economic heap. As long as New Mexicans are willing to be lead around by their noses by smooth-talking dishonest greedy politicans and are too timid to ask hard questions and demand accountability, this will be the way things are in this State. The fact that some politican is your 5th cousin three times removed or once upon a time acted like he/she knew you from a pail of paint is no justification for putting these people in charge of our tax dollars. Stupid voters get what they deserve and man, we have it here in spades!

An interesting note is Patricia's link to voter fraud issues. She and the gov were sued to force ID at the voting booth. It was initiated by a gent in ABQ whose 13 yr old son was voting, via ACORN, of course. Our legislature ran a bill through in special session to allow no ID once again. Now we have Spanish language ads. I don't know of ANY native born Hispanics who do not speak English. There might be a handful of old ladies in Northern NM. Let's get real! These ads are tageting Illegals. More voter fraud to ad to the corruption mentioned in this article.

Madrid did not act on the Robert Vigil corruption case... she just shoved the case down to the bottom drawer. A black cloud of corruption continues to exist in Santa Fe. It is time to rid of all politicos from both parties who condone corruption.

"The 2000 contract with Madrid's office, which appears to be for media work, was amended six times during five fiscal years. The original contract was worth $150,000, but amendments boosted the contract's worth to as much as $1.108 million, records show. " That a lousy $150,000 contract can be amended SIX TIMES to over $1 mil, is just not right! That shouldn't be allowed in the first place. It may be legal, but is it ethical??? Who are they kidding?

Sure agree with you on this one. I was sure she violated Hatch Act when she sent out beautiful full color hard pictures and mailers to regular mailboxes, showing her and con man sheriff in Sandoval county, supposedly fighting DWI but while election was imminent and obviously tax payer funded using the old public safety cover. But looked up Hatch Act and Surprise surprise it had been changed under Clinton, and lowered the rank of paid politicians who could politic on duty so to speak while collecting wages. Very vague now, but obvious that from Gov on down were using Transportation, Regulation and Public Safety Ads throughout to make very expensive adverts for their names and elections. Congrats to Feds or whoever kept up with this one.
