I've not ONCE said "end coal mining" it's a needed industry.
There are other industries that would work here, and those are needed as well. But, for some reason not wanted.

Well if there are so many industries that could work in West Virginia where are they? Yeah, we support coal. It supports our families. Without it what would we have. Its our life. Yeah maybe out of date and needs to be replaced, but right now we are all looking at unemployment. So as long as there is coal, we have a job. Wouldn't be so bad if there was some kind of program that would allow us to go back to school or something. Coal mining is all we know. If we can't work in the mining industry then what are we going to do? Right now, especially in the Boone area, there isn't anything else. Nothing. This place will turn into a ghost town within a few decades if mining shuts down. So yeah, some of us might not have the brightest responses on here, but they are just trying to save what keeps this place alive.

Where are the other industries? Ask Joe Manchin and your state senate. As in the federal system the state level has lobbyists too, and sadly the only one that has enough money in this state is Big coal. Along with any company connected to it.(eg. Caterpillar, Joy, and others that my brain is too tired to think of right now).
I'm all for the working man, NEVER said I was after ANY SINGLE ONE of your jobs! I want you guys and gals to HAVE your jobs, and get paid well to boot. Hell, I work my ass of every night to put toys under the christmas tree. As for the "brightest responses" I swear! This is the most awesome response I've EVER encountered in any of these threads. 99% of the time it's "SHUT UP YEW TREEHUGGER!" or the other myriad of useless and unfounded insults.
