Maybe they should have wrote the story about this town , the poorest , jobless , high priced rent no one can afford to pay , because of some greedy landlords who want to rent a trashy trailer for 300 and up in low life end of town . Infested with cock roaches . Homeless and hungry who can't even get on food stamps due to the inhuman treatment they get from social workers at the welfare office , and when you go to the HUD office to get a place , they never call you back .... What did i miss , oh yea and the landlords that rent to union members working out of there home town for 600 and up a month , forcing rent even higher , rates for lights , water and gas more than the rent you pay , and if you do find a job for 7.15 an hour it doesn't cover your basic needs . A prositute would not have a chance here there are so many crack whores ... There you have it . All i here is Macon , MO. IS SUCH A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE ....HAHAHA

IS SUCH A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE ....HAHAHA At one time Macon was a great place to live. That was before the city received grants for low income housing. First they built the projects off Coates St. Before long they renovated the old sanitarium and the old hotel downtown into low income housing. Next came Ranchland Gardens north of town, and then they added low income housing next to the low income housing at the sanitarium. The less money the tenets make, the less money their rent and utilities are. This encourages the lazy dead-beats to work as little as possible. If they need extra coin they can always make it by running dope in the nice car they bought with the money they saved from low income housing. But I regress, I remember in the 80's when unenployment was even higher than it is now, before Macon had low income housing every where. I worked 70 hours a week on two jobs for 3.25 an hour and drove an old beat up rust bucket. It took a while, but eventually I saved up enough for a loan and found better work. Today my house is paid for. I am glad I live outside of Macon because they will continue to build low income housing and the lazy trash will continue to move in. There are plenty of people who go to work everyday at low paying jobs in Macon. A portion of their taxes goes to pay for all the lazy shitbirds who don't. Stop bitching about all the free hand outs you have yet to receive from those of us that are not afraid of hard work and get busy! Life is what you make it!

I would say the people at the welfare office are pissed when some dead beat comes in with his hand out and they know tax money is coming out of there checks to pay for you being a dead beat. If you people would spend half of the time trying to find work as you do trying to get a free hand out you probably wouldnt need a free hand out but I forgot that would mean you would actually have to work.

Older people are not dead beats who are on SS and can't afford the inflation rates and need low income housing or should we just leave them homeless in the cold to die ? They are getting cut in there benifits and get no raises for 2 years . The housing authority does a better job , now keeping dopers out , than they use to . It is a federal offense to get caught with drugs in or around federal housing and schools .

Anyone who has worked hard all their life and is on a fixed income from S.S. should be the first in line for low income housing. The same is true for people who are TRULY disabled I don't have a problem with that. Unfortunately, the majority of the people who live there are perfectly capable of working hard enough to pay their own way and taking up all the space. The city builds more, and more scum from in and around Macon get in. It seems to help if the residents have a kid or get knocked-up from some out of work loser that is so allergic to labor that his face breaks out...oh never mind that's from the dope they use. The spawn of these people grow up to do the same thing. The cycle continues. Most employers require a drug screen before they hire and many of the better paying jobs even require random testing. The government should make drug testing MANDITORY for ANYONE who applies for aid! Anyone can get down on their luck and need help, however I have no pity for someone who is able to better themselves but would rather live off the working people's dime. I am sick of all the lazy dirt bags that bitch about how bad they have it in Macon when they don't get enough aid! Macon may be a shit-hole, but one of the reasons is because of the turd garden that my tax dollars fertilize!

I have found out about the people in Macon,Mo. how they feel , the hate they have for anyone in time of hardship that has a hard time finding work with no cars , shelter , or maybe don't have the right education for the job applied for by surveying different topix sites. This is a town with deep seated hatred for the poor . And to blame it on low rent housing is the dumbest thing i have ever heard . No more factory work , no meat processing , toastmaster sold out screwed people out of there money due them . Haltermans made out like a bandit off the backs of people who worked there for years . Moondog you have just been punked . Thanks

Moondog you have just been punked . Thanks We don't need anymore government control , that is what is wrong with this country now . Don't you want constitutional rights for people or are you against that too ?, try reading the constitution and the bill of rights which i'm sure you haven't set down in years and really done something i live by to be secure in my person and papers . Move to Iran , N.Korea , China , you would fit right in . And you could do some of those jobs that America sold to them ....for cheap .

You could put some food on the table for what that internet service cost every month maybe you should have it disconnected. Another thing is why didnt you Save when you were young did you think that you werent going to get old some day. Your ignorance is costing the tax payers money. Im sorry but I really dont feel sorry for someone who isnt smart enough to save for the future.

You wouldnt believe the money someone could make in the summer time mowing lawns or in the fall raking leaves but for some reason you dont see alot of people out doing these kinds of things like its beneath them they would rather sit around with there hand out then actually work and do something for money.

Moondog you have just been punked . Thanks You seem to be very melodramatic. Where are all these people you speak of without shelter in Macon? I have yet to see anyone sleeping on the sidewalks or any tent cities in the parks. All of the bums I see in Macon without a car walking, are talking on their cell phone. They evidently have some place to bed down at night, probably with some baby maker who gets a free ride off the government. I can agree with you on two things though, Macon has lost a lot of jobs since the first government housing was built. "If you build it they will come." Build a strong economy and jobs will come. Build low income housing without jobs and more people from out of town move in to fill 'em up. It's amazing how many people you can piss off if you tell them to work hard for what they receive. I was poor enough to have worked a lot of shitty paying jobs in my day. Sometimes the old beater I drove broke down and I had to walk to work. I didn't even have a phone for a while, let alone a p.c. to bitch about how bad I had it. If life here is that bad for you why don't you move back to your home town or find a new one. The other thing agree with you on is I have been punked. I bend over and get punked everytime a portion of my taxes get taken by someone to lazy to work. Is that why you thanked me?

I agree with you 100% moondog I feel punked every day also and as far as having a hatred for poor people I do feel alot of resentment toward them just for the fact that I have to take money out of my paycheck to pay for these dead beats to lay around and smoke and drink and make babys all day. Im like you moondog Ive worked alot of shitty jobs in my day to get by and Ive never ever had one hand out. Theres nothing makes me any madder then to see some little punk with a baby and tattoos smoking and talking on a cell phone. Im not speaking for everyone but Im fed up with paying for these dead beats that are to lazy to work. If your healthy theres no reason for you to live off of the government outside of your a bum.
