A flood warning was issued Friday afternoon for the Mackinaw River. Persistent, heavy rains have caused the river to swell and has left standing water in some farmers' fields.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is advising residents who obtain their drinking water from private wells in the Mackinaw area to test their water for possible groundwater contamination.
