The lightning caused Eightmile Fire, located about 12 miles northeast of Lowman, continues to burn and is being managed by the Boise National Forest as a "wildfire managed for resource benefits". The fire has been burning since July 12 and has grown to 375 acres as of Tuesday, July 28 with little growth since then.
