The sub shop and the hours are not the problem. They serve food not booze. If these idiots congregate there you can't punish the establishment. Let the police do their job. It would be great to have these idiots arrested regularly there.

Try Denny's in Nashua at 1:00am or later. There's always a Nashua cop there at that time. Any place after hours is gonna have the rift raft

They sould just close the sub shop at 9:00 or 10:00 PM. DUH? If the violence continues, shut it down forever. That was easy!

I don't agree with shutting the place down all the way. Try a police detail ( 2 offiers) and see if that works. Do they have security cameras? If not make them get them. If there are still problems, make them close at 11:00. I bet the neighbors would love an earlier closing.

I have been commenting, and calling the press against this shop for a long time. For strange reasons, it seems to be untouchable. Nobody wants to let people know the menace it has become to neighborhood. Since they are the only ones open this late, they attract the worst of society, hookers, drugs dealers, and all kind of bums that litter all over the neighbors yards and streets, vandalize vehicles, and houses as well, and the city does not do anything to contain, including the regular and constant loitering and illegal prostitution which is rampant at this time on vicinity, and adjacent streets, specially on Linden St, where they use the parking lot for drugs using, obscenities and selling. How much more do we have to take, before something is done to shut this place down, or impose earlier closing as all the other places do? ALSO THE NOISE FROM HORNS, AND LOUD STEREOS DO NOT LET ANYBODY SLEEP FROM THURSDAYS TO SATURDAYS, FROM 2 AM AHEAD.

They should most other places that have this many problems with violence require a paid police officer there or have to shut down at a earlier time. The police also should be arresting people for DUI's that show up there driving.

I would love to see these news spread to the frequent patronage of this sub, so they realize that they might much more than what they are bargaining for, as they go for food, and get beaten, or involved in adverse situations, for being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS PLACE SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD, and maybe we can get peace around here, and even a better value to our homes. Everyday, we have to go and clean up after they rubbish which is spread all over cars, yards, broken bottles, cans needles and all kinds of stuff thrown everywhere.

They have a detail they have camera's. One night someone lit a m80 on the old jerry's side of the building. Some wuss cop came out of santaro's back door with his gun drawn and peeked around the corner to see what was going on. I guess he didnt see anything so he asked us. "CAN YOU SEE ANYTHING CAN YOU SEE ANYTHING" lol

I dont know how Santoro's has stayed open this long. A club has a few noise complaints downtown and the city wants to shut them down. How many incidents has santoro's had in the last 15 years? Blue Shamrock same thing....Anyone know the connection? LMAO

hours are what is attracting trouble, be reasonable let the establishment run there business however they pay for the 2 police officer details out of there pocket, tax dollars not used for stupid business practices.

I still insist that this shop should be either forced to close earlier at night, so not to attract people already under the influences of narcotics, drugs, alcohol and God knows what more to gather and loiter around causing noises, loud stereos, fights shouting, vandalism
and complete skepticism from the authorities which do not take action. They simply, once in a great while, come and tell the "nice people" to go home. Not issuing any tickets for the disturbance, cars horns at 2 in the morning, extremely loud stereos, intended to wake up the customers for the sales, etc...(You figure what kind of sales I am talking about at this time) We see this going on every weekends on santoros parking lot, and Linden St, where is easier for them to take off, as police aproaches.

Tewksmom, my mom said the same thing "Nothing good happens after midnight" I go there often I do appreciate having a place to go when I get back on a late flight and I am starving to death. I always take it to go and I have never seen anything out of the ordinary but I call it in and I am in and out in 2 or 3 minutes tops, great food, hope they can work something out.

#1 Santoro's should be paying the City for having a Police presence. Is this the real Lowell? 75 people surrounding police? Pepper spraying a cop? That crap might work in their own countries, Brazil, El Sal, and Columbia, but once they bring it here I thinks its high time they did a MAJOR sweep through Lowell for Illegal Aliens.

On Aug. 2, Officer Charles Panek, who was working a detail inside the shop, drew his gun on Jonathan Mercer, 20, of 81 Shaw St., second floor, after Mercer drew a gun.

The men struggled and Mercer dropped a 9mm handgun, which hit the ground and fired, according to police. No one was struck.

Panek was surrounded by about 75 people who police said turned violent as more officers arrived. The crowd attacked officers with pepper spray, said police

Watchman, Santoros has been there longer than you. If your living in that neighborhood, your probably no better than the druggies and bums that you mention. The reason Santoros continues to operate is because from the time they open until 1am, it is a nice restaurant, with good people and food. Just because all the Lowell drunks show up after 1am, it doesn't mean you should shut the place down. If you don't like it, why don't you go back to Puerto Rico, or Portugal, or wherever it is you came from - and take the druggies and bums ruining the city with you.

Santoros won't close down for two reasons
A. the Police and the owners have a brown bag deal with them and get percentage of what they make in those late hours.
B. The police use Santoros for warrant sweeps and arrests without having to work, they sit and wait and the arrests will come

No matter what happens they will never close becasue the higher ups get pair and well for that place being opened late. The only thing that will close them down is a cop getting killed or someone exposing the illegal back room pay offs theyhave going on
