Lovell doctor faces drug charges
On Thursday, May 22, 2008, a Lovell doctor was arrested and charged with unlawfully distributing prescription painkillers.
Dr. Joseph Baumstarck was arrested during the execution of a search warrant at his place of business, the Strong Tree Clinic in Lovell, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney's office in Cheyenne.
Baumstarck has been charged by indictment with four counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. The prescription drugs he is suspected of distributing are oxycodone and hydrocodone, both painkillers. The charges state that Baumstarck allegedly distributed the drugs outside the scope of professional practice and for no legitimate medical purpose.
