A committee of Louisiana's top school board Tuesday voted to study changes in how public schools are graded amid complaints that East Baton Rouge Parish school officials are transferring students to boost school scores.

Mr. Will Morris, 59, a resident and native of Franklin, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at 5:18 p.m., at his residence following a short illness.

Louisiana Department of Education Superintendent John White says he is withdrawing Louisiana student information from a nonprofit database, inBloom, just two days after he assured Board of Elementary and Secondary Education members that the data was safe and could not be distributed without department approval.

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education on Wednesday approved a proposal to issue schools two letter grades this year to aid in the transition to a new grading system that will base part of school performance scores on ACT test results.
