The San Jose Mercury News reports that rangers with the Midpeninsula Open Space District descended on Lupin Lodge near Los Gatos on Thursday, saying the clothing-optional resort was illegally taking water from a nearby upstream waterfall. The resort's owners say they are entitled to use the waterfall, which they need to keep their water tank full in case of a fire and to top off their pool for both skinny-dipping and as a backup water source for a fire.

Garberville man charged with felony DUI after crash near Ferndale

On September 14, 2014, at approximately 0330 hours, Kyle John Wescott, age 19, from Garberville, CA was driving his 1987 BMW eastbound on Grizzly Bluff Road approaching East Ferry Road. A nudist resort in Los Gatos struggling to stay afloat during California's drought has been accused of stealing more than 280,000 gallons of water from a local creek, which authorities say sustains area wildlife. Authorities from the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District said the clothing-optional Lupin Lodge has been warned in the past about its efforts to divert water from 117-acre Hendrys Creek to maintain its residential properties, spa/resort, camping facility and restaurant.

Rangers from an open space district descended upon a neighboring nudist colony above Los Gatos on Thursday, accused its residents of stealing water and proceeded to rip out a water line that has helped keep the resort open during California's epic drought. Sheriff's deputies arrived to keep the peace between the Lupin Lodge and the Mid Peninsula Open Space District.
