Wow...a $400 MILLION dollar city deficit, failing schools, rampant gang crime, countless waste, but this clown can make the time to smug up the camera for a *brace yourself*...diagonal crosswalk. God forbid this clown mayor do anything for Jamiel's law or anything else actually worthwhile that'd make the city better. Instead, just worthless publicity stunts that the stupid media eats up and regurgitates back to the blind public. Elect this inept tool and all the other clowns out of office.

Re: "Villaraigosa To Unveil LA's First Diagonal Crosswalk," in order to reduce traffic? At the [expense] of taxpayer thank you very much! Wanton spending at its best! The city is already broke as can be; now, this money grabbing project! You got to be extremely gullible that this fiasco is going to reduce traffic! Come on, now; wake up and smell the coffee! The only gridlock I see, is a fiscal deficit! The mayor acts as though money grows on trees!

Cool! A new place to run over illegal aliens. Guess you can say, "X" marks the spot! What a waste of oxygen this mayor.

Lot of people dont know it but Jamiel was a gangbanger, dont let the news fool you, he was a blood, its all over his myspace page. If feel for his mom, but her son had been seen with the bloods over there, and the mexican was just putting in work. THAT L.A. |

They've had diagonal cross-walks in Pasadena for years.
Tony is brilliant!! Lets elect him Govenor!!(that was Sarcasm folks) |
|
and YOU, living in PA, KNOW this? It's disgusting to speak ill of the deceased. It is not a true comment and you are sickening to even say it. Even if it were true, the point lost with you is half of these crimes could stop tomorrow if they would deport these illegals. |
|
|
This isn't new, L.A. had these in the 50's. They got rid of them because the peds took over the intersections and traffic couldn't proceed.
|
|
So we should also deport all AFRICAN AMERICANS too you all oh I am sorry YA'll GANGBANG too!!! it is not only MEXICANS GANGBANGING too you know. WHAT WE NEED IS LEADERSHIP WITH BALLS!!! BRING BACK LAPD CRASH< BILL GATES AND PETE WILSON and lets see where all p*&k gangbangers run to |
|
Sounds about like the way they work in Pasadena... Makes a big mess and a lot of confusion in an intersection. But, since Tony came up with it for LA, its got to be a good thing huh? |

World Wide Watts and Jesse, you are two stupid, ignoramuses. The low-life that killed Jamiel was an illegal! If you come from another country into the U.S. do it legally! Not illegally! And World Wide Watts, why don't you show some proof that Jamiel was in a gang? Oh, you can't? That's what I thought.

At some point, events will require a huge correction. People will get angry when they continue to lose homes, the state has no money, food and fuel are unaffordable and the spiral continues. The endless wave of misplaced compassion will deplete and people will demand both accountability AND action. Illegal (and only illegal) residents will find a quick end to the tolerance they have experienced up to this point. |

Seems like someone in the news department at your station would be old enough to remember that Loa Angeles had diagonal crosswalks in the last 50's and early 60's. I remember that I was in grade school going to my fathers work in downtown Los Angeles and there were diagonal cross walks then. If I remember correctly all traffic was stopped and you could cross in any direction straight across in either direction or diagonally. It was at 5th and Hill at Pershing square that I remember it. Don't remember how many intersections had it or how long they were used but Villarigosa's idea is nowhere near the first time this type of cross walk is being used in Los Angeles.

When people know there are diagonal crosswalks in the area, they park their cars so they can walk on them. I know I always do, because it's a lot more fun to walk diagonally than to have to go to one corner and then go across the street to the other. If they put these on every corner, people would all park their cars, use these crosswalks and traffic would disappear overnight. This was a brilliant idea whose time has come, what with the price of gas, number of cars on the road, and the need for more fun in people's lives. I wish I had thought of it! |

Did we not have such a system in the 50's and 60's in Downtown Los Angeles?

No argument here Jesse. I agree with you about Pete Wilson etc. No, I don't bang. But African Americans are legal citizens here in the USA. The ones that are in gangs should be dealt with accordingly. We have our own citizen criminals. We don't need to import them from South America/Mexico and deal with illegals. Cool your jets, were on the same side. I just said it's horrible to speak ill of the dead when you don't know the truth. |

INSANE. the mayor and Jack Weiss in charge of Public Safety have no other ideas that would benefit the city more than spending millions on a crosswalk, I'll deal with traffic anyday send the COWARD GangBangers back to South America where they have no ACLU.

The story states: "At the diagonal crosswalk at Westwood Boulevard and Le Conte Avenue, pedestrians can cross to the left, right or diagonally when all lights are red, but won't be able to cross at all when any lights are green, meaning vehicles turning left or right will not be held up by pedestrians."
No, the damn MTA busses will continue to round that corner at full speed anyways. That intersection is very dangerous to cross, many have been hit by (you guessed it) MTA busses speeding around that corner without checking to see if anyone is stepping off the corner trying to cross the street. So I applaud this effort but why the heck was the mayor at this event?? Oooooh, a crosswalk was painted on the street, lets have the mayor and chunk of the police force (protecting him) come to dedicate it because it is such an important event. What i am sick of hearing about is that do-nothing mayor of ours once again, trying to get his face on TV or in the news papers. Hey you! Yeah you! The moronic, adulterous, self-serving, do-nothing mayor, get your butt back in your office and actually do your job. No wonder we are in a deficit, the city is spending so much money just ferrying the mayor's pathetic do-nothing butt all around the world and providing security to keep his do-nothing butt alive so that he can get his ugly do-nothing butt ugly face on the television and in the papers. Its like, "Look at me, I am the Latino poster-child mayor of L.A. I don't do anything but waste the city's quickly dwindling monetary resources going to every ribbon cutting ceremony, every illegal alien rights movement protest, every building ground breaking, and every minor event in Los Angeles and around the world (like supposed security conferences in Israel)." So, Antonio, what is your next feat as mayor?? You going to dedicate the next signal light to be put in? Or are you going to go celebrate the replacement of a dead light bulb in a street light on Ventura Blvd? No, wait, someone will pick up a piece of litter that did not belong to them and you will have a ceremony to give that person the key to the city for "cleaning up LA." |
|
He cleans our toilets!!! (Actually, I'd rather have him doing something harmless like dedicating a crosswalk than meddling with something that going to screw up the city more than it already is.) |
