Same ol. This story could of been written several years ago. The American version of OPEC is alive and well in Grant County. Pathetic excuses of 'we live sooo far from the freeway' and all that crap does not work for most of us. Rising prices on a barrel of oil may be part of it, but avarice and greed usually play a sizeable part and don't come on with hokey rot about 'oh, we aren't greedy.' My arse.

They brought in the swine flu so they could divert attention away from the Gas price increase. Hang on to your butt as it will hit $5.00 per gallon before it's all over. They will also try to change to the Metric system so people will think they are getting a great deal at a Buck a Liter.
After talking to one of the truck drivers that bring our fuel to Silver, he stated that he gets the same for bringing fuel to Silver as he does Demming, Lordsberg, Columbus, and gess what folks Palomas! Why yes they do. And Palomas sells their gas for about $2.30 a Gallon depending on the value of the peso.
No two ways about it our Government will continue to kiss the Oil peoples butt untill we put a stop to it. Get out and vote. Elect new people to positions held by butt kissers. Time to change America.

One thing I find amazing is when an event happens that the oil and gas people think will cause an increase in fuel prices the people all run out of their station to the price board and immediately raise the prices. The fuel that is in the ground and being pumped was already paid for...so why should the price increase on it instead of future fuel based on happenings that cause it to go up.

I think we should organize and everyone boycott Exxon for 5 days, then the next week everyone boycott Texaco, the next week everyone boycott Chevron. It wouldn't take them long to figure out they would lose billions of dollars in that 5 day period if across the USA we all bought in to the plan and just did it.

I know where there is the perfect family gas station for sale. Why don't you try your hand at it and see if you feel the same after dealing with all the state and federal regulations and hope to sell enough gallons to pay those debts.

Business in America is open to anyone: If you can do better, do it and reap the rewards. But before you open your doors and start pumping, check futures pricing on what your product will cost you: http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/commodities/...

Then add whatever overhead you think you'll need to build and maintain your gas station, and whatever you'll want to pay yourself or others, and of course 18.8 cents per gallon in state taxes, and then add the federal tax per gallon, and then allow for freight costs to get the fuel delivered to your station, and insurance costs, and then maybe a little profit.

If your cost per gallon is lower than the current guys, I'll be your first customer.

You make some very good points; however, how come every gas station here has to have the same price for a gallon of gas when other businesses, such as food service, have competitive prices, and most buy from the same suppliers? Maybe restaurant operators here should all get together and agree on the same prices for all their menu selections. Can you imagine the outcry from the consumers?

I don't care what the costs are to get gasoline to our dealers here, but you can never convince me that they must all charge the same price. I still believe there is some type of collusion going on among them. Call me skeptical.

Lets see here, theres a storm out in the Gulf, lets raise the price per gallon 20 cents. Lets put Oxygen in the gas and raise the cost by a nickle. Can't do that cause it causes cancer so lets take out the oxygen and raise the cost by another nickle. Stock market drops by 200 points lets raise the price by 20 cents. Stock market goes up by 300 points lets drop the price by 5 cents.
So many excuses and no real reasons to raise the price at the pump. We have heard all the excuses, and there are allot of people that will make the local government do something about it.
How is it that Silver City gas prices are always just high enough to make it not worth driving to Lordsburg to fill up? Always 20-30 cents difference. Local stations and their owners suck. No shame while they stick it to the poor.

Here we go again, anytime gas prices fluctuate all the area witless wierdos come out to name call and defame fuel center operators. But the witless wierdos will pay the local national grocer 15 cents more for products if they come as ten for a 1.00 when regular price is 85 cents. Not knowing the truth, the facts or just lacking common sense is the trademark of this areas witless wierdos! Read on!

Maybe it's me but in other places and here a long time ago, prices didn't jump 10 cents overnight. Three or four cents was shocking so why the big jump? Maybe someone can answer that. Oh and I drive to other towns and fill up so I don't buy my gas here in Silver.
