Full story: Daily Breeze

"He's a grown adult and that's just not something that he'd do, and he's not of that nature," said Teri Nichole Thayer, 29.

It's like the aunt in New York who said her nephew wouldn't hit his friend with a 2x4, even though he looks straight at a camera both before and after he did it!

this reporter can't even get the testimonies correct. if you are going to report on something, report on what was said and not your personal interpretation of what was said and don't publish statements out of context to make an individual look bad.

shame on you denise...

Headline should read Torrance Allegeed Molester 74'.
If it were any other city in the Southbay the writers/editor of DB would list the name of the city, so why not list Torrance in the headlines of the this Alleged Molester.

These are the most unintelligent blog comments I have ever seen, with the one exception of Anonymous. Everyone wants a child molester to go to jail. Everyone wants to believe children. Duh.
What do any of you really know about this case?

Court clerk may testify in Lomita molestation trial
By Denise Nix on October 21, 2009 9:27 AM
After all these years hanging around the courts, I still see plenty of "firsts."
Yesterday, while watching the trial for Roy Joseph Senter, it became apparent that the defense would like to call to the witness stand the court clerk in Dept. L of the Torrance Superior Court.
Not sure of the chronology of this, but it seems the clerk made an observation of sheriff's sex crimes detective Paul Valle nodding his head during certain testimony of some witnesses. I'm not exactly clear on which witnesses, but it sounds like it was during the alleged victims' testimony - raising the spectre of "coaching" by the defense.
Before she testifies, and at the prosecution's request, a hearing will be conducted outside of the jury's presence by Judge James Brandlin so it can be determined what the clerk observed and it's probative value. That will likely happen tomorrow.

Family never thinks their loved ones could ever do anything wrong. If you're not with them 24/7, then you don't truly know what anyone is capable of. If he did it, even with his age he deserves punishment. Even if he is found guilty with appropriate evidence, bad guys always have some family to swear it must be a mistake.

As a peace officer, I have investigated many types of crimes where children were involved in one way or another. Generally, children because of their age and innocent nature are more honest than adults are, who have learned how to lie through the years. I don't know know much about this case so I will not speculate.....but I don't see a need to verbally attack anyone for their opinion. And what is wrong with a child molester going to jail???? Seems to me, that's the safest place for them to be in terms of society and children.

i love that people form opinions and have their own verdicats without all the facts. that's exactly why there is no such thing as "innocent until proven guilty".

let the jury decide before you do. even then, remember, you weren't there to hear the trial...

Who responds to these posts like this? Aren’t we all “Americans”, fighting for the same thing? Peace, equality, happiness and fairness among other.

So why would you want come here and leave comments allowing yourself to LOOK like mean, bias, judgmental, unknowledgeable, & uneducated Americans, that are egar to accuse your fellow Americans because you read a story. Do we know for 100% that this story states all the facts or that the facts are stated properly, or that the facts are stated in a manner that doesn’t defend or incriminate one side of the story more than the other?
There is no way of knowing all the facts unless you are there the whole time, hearing all the testimonies, cross examinations and seeing the evidence (if any), for yourself.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, which is what everyone here is doing. But it doesn’t really matter unless you are on the Jury. They Jury are the only ones that have the final say in this matter. And since they are the ones that do get to hear everything and see everything, THE JURY’S OPINION IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS! And then even though they have the final word, there are plenty of past history cases to show that plenty of innocent people have been sent to prison or guilty people set free.

The Laws have Flaws.
It is no longer “Innocent until proven Guilty”. Now people are Guilty until proven innocent. This case is about real peoples lives. It just seems un-American to post mean, racy, opinionated comments on a subject we really don’t have all the facts on.

So why do we feel so compelled to accuse someone with:
“…then why did he do it?”
“but from all I've read he is GUILTY.”

To semi-quote another commenter:
“Yes, Everyone wants a child molester to go to jail”(if guilty).“Yes, Everyone wants to believe the children”(if telling the truth).

“What do any of us really know about this case?”

Lets keep in mind, that there are TWO girls which are victims that came forward and identified this man as a predator. How much clearer does it need to be that this guy is a pediphile. And yes, pediphiles could be fathers, grandfathers, or in this case great grandfathers; even more so fomer neighbors.

Of course the granddaughter is going to defend her grandfather.

I know this guy molested these girls. I know it.

This woman has no idea what could have happened behind that closed door. She insults all crime victims when she takes an accused pedophile's side without proof.

If ALL of the facts aren't given, it is unfair to make a judgment based on what Denise Nix decides to pick and choose from these trials. What about the fact that the first girl claimed she was upset because her mother never gave her any attention? And what about the fact that the second girl denied ever being molested, until seven months after it was continually suggested to her by the police and her family? Before anyone decides whether a person is guilty or innocent, they should sit in on a trial sometime and hear both sides of the story and see how this reporter leaves out important facts and takes things out of context.

This is true, but unfortunately children are also very vulnerable to the power of suggestion and it is easy to implant memories and make children believe something is true when it is not. If only there was a way to know for sure.

wow. its great to see how far we've come as a country. nothing quite like a good ol mob mentality to spice up our daily life. great to see americas greatest qualities shining through. men accused of child molestation are the new "witch" in america. you can pretty much run out in the street, point at a man and scream "child molester" and every one within earshot will be willing to see this mas life ripped apart. mind you they have no proof of this, but that ol mob mentality gets ripping at someones ready to go get a rope. wake up people. judging a man based on what you read in a 90% BS newspaper, written with drama to entice readers to sell copies, is just flat ignorant. we are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but thats a flat out joke and its been shown here on post after post. not one of you know this man, or sat in on this trial, and you're ready to bury him. thats just sad.
