1 If it were any other city in the Southbay the writers/editor of DB would list the name of the city, so why not list Torrance in the headlines of the this Alleged Molester. |

1 By Denise Nix on October 21, 2009 9:27 AM After all these years hanging around the courts, I still see plenty of "firsts." Yesterday, while watching the trial for Roy Joseph Senter, it became apparent that the defense would like to call to the witness stand the court clerk in Dept. L of the Torrance Superior Court. Not sure of the chronology of this, but it seems the clerk made an observation of sheriff's sex crimes detective Paul Valle nodding his head during certain testimony of some witnesses. I'm not exactly clear on which witnesses, but it sounds like it was during the alleged victims' testimony - raising the spectre of "coaching" by the defense. Before she testifies, and at the prosecution's request, a hearing will be conducted outside of the jury's presence by Judge James Brandlin so it can be determined what the clerk observed and it's probative value. That will likely happen tomorrow. |

1 As a peace officer, I have investigated many types of crimes where children were involved in one way or another. Generally, children because of their age and innocent nature are more honest than adults are, who have learned how to lie through the years. I don't know know much about this case so I will not speculate.....but I don't see a need to verbally attack anyone for their opinion. And what is wrong with a child molester going to jail???? Seems to me, that's the safest place for them to be in terms of society and children. |

2 So why would you want come here and leave comments allowing yourself to LOOK like mean, bias, judgmental, unknowledgeable, & uneducated Americans, that are egar to accuse your fellow Americans because you read a story. Do we know for 100% that this story states all the facts or that the facts are stated properly, or that the facts are stated in a manner that doesn’t defend or incriminate one side of the story more than the other? There is no way of knowing all the facts unless you are there the whole time, hearing all the testimonies, cross examinations and seeing the evidence (if any), for yourself. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, which is what everyone here is doing. But it doesn’t really matter unless you are on the Jury. They Jury are the only ones that have the final say in this matter. And since they are the ones that do get to hear everything and see everything, THE JURY’S OPINION IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS! And then even though they have the final word, there are plenty of past history cases to show that plenty of innocent people have been sent to prison or guilty people set free. The Laws have Flaws. It is no longer “Innocent until proven Guilty”. Now people are Guilty until proven innocent. This case is about real peoples lives. It just seems un-American to post mean, racy, opinionated comments on a subject we really don’t have all the facts on. So why do we feel so compelled to accuse someone with: “…then why did he do it?” “but from all I've read he is GUILTY.” To semi-quote another commenter: “Yes, Everyone wants a child molester to go to jail”(if guilty).“Yes, Everyone wants to believe the children”(if telling the truth). “What do any of us really know about this case?” |

1 This is true, but unfortunately children are also very vulnerable to the power of suggestion and it is easy to implant memories and make children believe something is true when it is not. If only there was a way to know for sure. |
