A fire at a fertilizer plant in the southeastern North Dakota town of Litchville damaged the building and destroyed about $300,000 worth of material.

A benefit dinner and concert for Sarah Muir, a 14-year-old Litchville girl awaiting a kidney and liver transplant, is planned for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Valley City's First Baptist Church, located about 1/2 mile south of Interstate 94 on the Kathryn Road.

The Litchville-Marion school board voted on May 10 to pursue a basketball co-op agreement with LaMoure starting in 2012-13. Litchville-Marion superintendent Steve Larson said the co-op is still in the "pre-planning" stage - although the two school districts have been discussing a possible co-op for over a year.
