Hundreds of kids won't go to school Monday in Illinois. The Gillespie School District shut down late Saturday night.The district's superintendent says the principal at Benld Elementary noticed cracks in the schools walls and floors Saturday afternoon. The principal says she was in the school earlier that day and there was no damage at that time. The district suspects the damage is due to mine subsidence, but that is not confirmed. The district says it is necessary to shut down the entire district to reorganize while school officials work to figure out what to do with the nearly 700 students who attend Benld Elementary.
