This may come as a surprise, but there is an election Tuesday. Actually, it's a runoff election to fill a vacant seat in the state House of Representatives.
Lakendall Sims guilty of May 2007 murder
Lakendall Sims was convicted today of two counts of capital murder in the May 2007 death of 21-year-old Gabriel Alaniz.
At midnight Friday Sheriff Mike Hale closed the Bessemer jail and gave those near four dozen deputies their walking papers.
