School board honors retiring Mainland teachers

LINWOOD The Mainland Regional High School Board of Education honored retiring staff members at the agenda meeting Monday, June 8. Most had worked at the school for more than 20 years, "I had 31 pleasant years here," said former special education teacher Susan Farrell of Seaville, who retired at the very end of last school year.

Jewish shops of an old Atlantic City

Back in the day, the Jews rocked Atlantic City. Living mostly up in the inlet section, eventually moving to Margate, they established hundreds of shops, on the Boardwalk and on the Avenues, opened hotels and motels, sold kosher food from deli counters, and even raised chickens on farms just outside town.
