My mother was the Texas woman that died April 18, 2008 in the 2 car accident in Linden Texas. She was traveling to see her daughter and son who reside in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She lived in Victoria Texas along with 2 other daughters. She had traveled this highway many times since 1976 to visit family and to transport her deceased husband to Little Rock for cancer treatment. Trooper Burns worked her accident. He was a very compassionate, caring man. We spoke to him several times on the phone and he always took time to speak to us and answer our questions regarding our mother's death. My brother had the opportunity to meet Trooper Burns when he had to go pick up my mother's personal belongings. His death was a tragedy which after reading articals surrounding the details should have and could have been avoided. Giving the benefit of the doubt, laziness, hiding behind whatever justification or law used, can never outweigh the what if?????? This man should have remained in the custody of Texas. Giving this man the opportunity to become a productive citizen also gave him the opportunity to take aperson's life that was a productive citizen and had chosen a career to protect the community. Tragedy!!!!
