A passion hatched in Tracee Hamilton when she was a child will help to provide some overdue recognition for a Civil War veteran buried in western Lincoln County.

In a modern day version of President Abraham Lincoln's 1862 Homestead Act that gave free land to settle the vast American interior, Marquette is among a dozen struggling central Kansas towns offering free lots to anyone who agrees to build a house.

The exhibit shows how the Girl Scouts, the largest organization for girls in the world, has progressed from its founding to present day.

Singer/songwriter Bailey Wilton made the trip from Lincoln, Ks - to perform live on KSAL's Morning News on Friday.
