I am appalled that Tenn would tax food to the people. What's next drinking water.
In my opinion, public caning, bull-whipping or flogging a politician should be on the agenda for any crime along with throwing out the mental health and counseling industry. One stroke of the whip for each dollar misappropriated or funneled to the politician or family member. It must be an oversight by the drunken committee members. |

We have no state income tax in TN. I don't mind paying sales tax on food items. I don't have to buy food. I can grow my own food and bottled water IS taxed. There still is no personal income tax so sales tax is how the state makes money. I prefer it. I would HAVE to pay an income tax. This way if I don't want to pay tax,I just don't buy. I definitely agree with the public punishment!! Much misappropriation would end if there was a punishment for doing it! |

I agree with Belfast. If you don't want to pay tax on food, grow it yourself. It's not like land isn't very cheap here in Tennessee, there is nothing stopping anyone from growing food who wants to except laziness.

And the seeds to grow that food are now taxed as of January 1st. And if you want to raise your own livestock for dinner meat, we now have the NAIS (national animal identification system) being foisted on us by politician$ in the pocket of corporate-industrial farmers. This is the inserted tracking chip you'll have to buy for every domestic critter you own if the law is passed. Wake up folks, every attempt to live outside the system is under scrutiny by corrupt officials who want everyone to follow the "rules" and stay in line. How many subdivisions prohibit vegetable gardens and mandate crew cut lawns instead? Some even outlaw clotheslines.
If you think poor quality land that sells for 2-3 thousand dollars an acre is cheap, you must be sitting on a pile of gold. Or maybe you've been eating that Genetically Modified corn, soybeans, potatoes, etc., or cloned cows too long and your brain has cease functioning properly. |
