It's a rich loamy soil that has supported prairies, nurtured crops and won over skeptical lawmakers who questioned whether a state that already has an official muffin, mushroom, gemstone, butterfly, fish, bird and beverage really needs another symbol.

The Minnesota House has dug through the options and voted to name Lester the official state soil.

The 10th annual Winsted Women's Expo is being called another success by its hard-working committee members Sarah Fasching, Julie Guggemos, Erin Kutz, and Jennifer Stratton.

Lester Prairie will take the next step toward a Second Avenue South and Pine Street improvement project with an open house from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at city hall.
