I've lived on El Verde Rd. for 17 years and in that time, my family and I were flooded out one time---in 1998, when everything from the hill country to Houston was flooded. Widening the creek along El Verde Rd. will not help with the flooding problem becuase when it floods, the water does not come from the creek behind the homes, it comes across Bandera Rd. and down the street. The water is unable to follow the creekbed through the park across Bandera Rd. and therefore flows over. Maybe if the city of San Antonio would clear the creek from the Leon Valley city limits south, the water could flow on through. Quite frankly, I don't feel this "buyout" has anything to do with a "flooding" issue, but rather an attempted land grab by the city of Leon Valley.

Larry and any others reading this - The City is not trying to do anything to get land on El Verde / Jeff Loop! If you have been at the meetings you would know ...Bexar County is the one who will do the buyouts, not Leon Valley! This is part of a multi-million dollar water management plan by Bexar County that is not just going to effect LV - it is up and down the creek from us - they are working from the south to the north along the creek. Bexar County can take anyone's land at anytime; if they want it, they get it.
