"YOU SHUT UP!!!!" - Mayor Arp Throws a Tantrum.

Those were the words Loudon County Mayor Doyle Arp screamed when he was told he couldn't change the law by Assessor Chuck Jenkins. Arp then threw a tantrum, which include stomping his feet, slamming doors and yelling at the top of his lungs.

As reported previously, Mayor Arp may have committed a class E felony (Official Oppression) by ordering others to break the law.

It now appears that some of those others (including Jenkins and Building Commissioner Cox) know the order to be unlawful and are refusing to comply (what nerve!).

Keep in mind the relationship between these parties: Arp could fire Cox. Then we'll find out if any of our county commissioners have a spine made out of something other than wet noodles, and could actually stand up to this man once.

The full story is on www.vanshaver.com, and is too long for Topix (due to length restrictions). The link accompanying this story will direct you to it.

This is truly an embarrassment to our county. I know for sure what I would have done to one of our children if he had pitched such a tantrum. How can we punish this man?

I agree with Embarrassed. How much longer does our county have to put up with this man? I can't believe a man in this position would act like a three year old. What a shame! How did this man get elected?

You can punish this man by writing a letter of complaint to the governor ( and any other official you can think of). We have the option of suing him in court for official oppression, but it would be a waste of our time and money. The clerk and master is his best friend and the judges around here are as questionable as Arp in my opinion. We can wait until his term is up, but the county could be bled dry by that time.
I think if enough people contact the governor and complain he will HAVE to investigate.

I love Loudon County and grew up there, but this is just one more reason why I left......politics in the county has not changed in my 50+ years and probably wont.

Unfortunately, I have found that everywhere else in the country is facing the same type of problems. Too late to move back now.

As Will Rogers said (and Mr. Gerald Augustus taught me in Civics) "We have nothing to worry about in this country 'cause we have the best politicians that money can buy."

It is sad Rick. There are some real crooks here in Loudon County running the show. I would love to see if we could elect new people that may not be so crooked but that seems to be all that want these jobs anymore.

OH THE STORIES I COULD TELL.....of things I have learned during my infrequent trips to Lenoir City to help settle my parents estate over the last decade.....

....and the things that are still happening and will not change. It is the ongoing saga of incestuous politics and power. Generations change, but the names remain familiar.

What a wonderful place Loudon County---and many other small communities just like it across this nation---would be to live and work if the politics of power did not prevent the cleansing of the Palaces of Power.
