September is National Preparedness Month and keeping with that point, Clarion County 's Office of Emergency Services has been busy talking and working with the state Department of Health and national Center for Disease Control to get the county ready for the upcoming flu season.

When Timothy Stitt of Leeper, Pa., first heard about a new checking account at a small western Pennsylvania bank, he was intrigued.

And it's turning out to be a little more difficult than expected. The waste paper was collected at the Boy Scout's recycling center along State Route 66 just south of Leeper.

The action comes after a second round of residential surveys concerning the proposed expansion of service.

Nearly 50 people turned out for a recent public meeting to discuss the possible service line extensions.

An addition to the fire hall in Shippenville, a small addition to the sewage plant in Sligo, a bar in East Brady and a 12-lot subdivision in Farmington Township were recently approved by the Clarion County Planning Commission.

The information comes from campaign expense reports filed May 8 by the candidates and any supporting committees.

A public meeting to gather input on the proposal will be held at 7 p.m. May 21 at the Farmington Township fire hall in Leeper.
