"We're bringing working-class people back into the city," said Patricia Stine, project manager" Why did the working class people flee from the city in the first place??
Trouble--- With a capital T I give it by June......... Let the warm weather hit "the city", and we shall see.
It would be nice if it works out how it was originally planned.
I wonder if Section 8 qualifies for these places?

I have a great idea!!!! <sarcasm mode on> Lets 'rent' these homes to the "working class" people who have roots in Lebanon. OOPS...we can't do that. We would lose all the things these losers bring with them from New York (and other places), such as crime/poverty/welfare mentality etc.
<Scarcasm mode off> I think the concept of these homes is great and should be rented to those who have proven that they will be capable of appreciating what they are receiving. Maybe there should be restrictions such as: Speaking English, steady employment for at least 5 years (or are truely disabled), local resident for at least 5 years, credit check, etc.

I think I read somewhere that these homes do not qualify as section 8 housing, but I could be wrong.

What part of that is so hard to understand?

Instead of complaining about who is moving into these homes, why don't you check out what the rules/requirements are at www.mifflinmills.com ? Maybe you can move in too.

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR MIFFLIN MILLS?
• Are there 3 to 6 persons in your household?
• Do you reside in Lebanon County?
• Are you serious about becoming a homeowner in the
future?
• Are you employed?
• Is your annual household income less than the following
limits?
o 3 persons $34,500*
o 4 persons $38,340*
o 5 persons $41,400*
o 6 persons $44,460*
*(Lower income limits apply for two units with
special handicapped accessibility features)
• Can you afford monthly rent plus utilities estimated to be
$800? If this is more than 30% of your household’s
income, you will be ineligible unless you already have
Section 8 rental assistance to subsidize your rent.
• Do you have excellent credit, with a credit score of 650 or
higher?
• Is your criminal record free of felonies or drug&#8208;related
offenses for at least the last five years?
• Do you have a good track record with current and
previous landlords?
• Is your housekeeping satisfactory?
• Are you ready to move in Fall 2009?

These places are going to stay vacant for a long time. Yeah right.

Maybe I don't want to move in.... Maybe after numerous thefts and vandalism to our vehicles, neighbors up all night, music blasting at all hours, having to walk off the sidewalk to get around people, drug wannabebuyers knocking on our door,(mistakenly) and the list goes on... we moved out of "Lebanon City". Lebanon City can have this one. I wish them luck with this place. I have lived in Lebanon my entire life,(40+ yrs) and I have seen ALOT of good intentions go to hell over a period of time.
Next certain people will be complaining they cannot get into these homes- then one requirement after the next will be taken off of the eligibility list.
Maybe instead of complaining about something, I should have done something... So let's run down this list. Called the police, numerous times, tried to talk to neighbors about having some respect for the one's that HAVE to get up early for work. As soon as someone complains about how someones living is truly affecting others, it gets misconstrued into racism, they're being picked on, we don't like them, bla bla bla. The cops in Lebanon do ABSOLUTELY nothing. I do apologize for not being ok with working for my belongings only to have someone steal it, or vandalize it. I do apologize that I cannot function at my job, because I have been up until 4am because my neighbors like to drink, party, and dance.
And, yes, I really do have a problem with one of the requirements. All one has to do is be a resident of Lebanon County. It doesn't give a time limit. So does that mean, they can live here for one day, and that makes a person eligible?
And the reason why I have a few concerns about this place, I do have family that lives about a block away from this place. That neighborhood has gone to hell in the last 8 years, and fast.

Wonderful to read of this! When I was the director of the housing and redevelopment authority in the 1960's, Jim Hanford, owner of the mill wanted to sell us the property for an urban renewal project but was not possible under government regulations. That's over 40 years ago.

have you taking notice that the more money you have the more your heard! The mayor and the other members have money they don't have to live in lebanon and deal with the crap that we see! Did you hear what the new mayor of lebanon wants more young people to come to Lebanon! I really want the old lebanon back
