Silly us. We always thought stolen property (taxes) were going to be used to fix the pot holes.

Why should we pay for it??? it's not like we went out there with an axe or hammer and bangged them up. Sure go ahead and cut farther into the money we get up every morning for just to make a decent living out here. Just like how we all pay school taxes even if we dont have childern .. now how crazy is that.

From the list it sems that Plantation doesn't repair them at all. It looks that way round here too. They prefer useless trolleys, fancy street signs, parades, shelters for crack dealers and expensive brick suspension breaking pavers, fancy walls, blocking divider crossings on Broward Bvd., expensive dividers on 441 where no one in their right mind walks and sending paper bills to people who pay on line.

Sidewalks are considered to be part of your property. If someone falls on your sidewalk due to crack in it --they sue you -not the village, town or whatever. Snow ?-you have to shovel it off. Leaves?-you have to rake them away. You own it.

What if I didn't want the sidewalk to begin with? I once had trouble with P Pines over a side walk. There were cracks cause by construction crews parking on it during road construction. I gave them picture of the parked equipment and ended up with my property survey yhat showed my property line was approximately 18 inches shy of the side walk. they threaten to fine me for every day it was not fixed. We went to court and ended in arbitration. It cost me some money but I didn't have to fix the sidewalk.

waldy wrote: hallandale doesn't either Hollywood will also pay half for a new sidewalk if the homeowner doesn't have an existing and would like one. They are more than happy to install one. The City does all necessary paperwork, inspections, requirements etc., with a licensed contractor. The work was very good and done in little time.. Contact the City engineer's office if intrested.
