Butterflies in January?A If we are to believe the January 20, 1878 edition of the Mining Journal, a reporter from L'Anse sent one to the paper's office during this famous warm winter.

Born in L'Anse, MI, he was a son of the late Ida and John C. Monarch and stepson of the late Orin Nollinger.
